  5. Oh so pretty!

I'm from just outside of Ottawa, Canada. Ottawa is the capital of Canada, and it's pretty, but kind of boring. Being the capital we do get all of the dignitaries who visit Canada (Prince Charles is on his way here now). And all of our street signs are bilingual, which makes people from outside of the area giggle :)

  50. I'm from Finland but living in Italy. A random fact: From our living room windows we have a spectacular view over the cliffs where the ancient sardinians used to throw their old people down from. A bit morbid I know...

Among the very ancient people of Sardinia, who were called Sardi or Sardoni, it was customary to kill old people. While killing their old people, the Sardi laughed loudly. This is the origin of notorious sardonic laughter (Eugen Fehrle, 1930), now meaning cruel, malicious laughter. (copied from wikipedia)

  184. I am from a small town on the eastern end of Lake Ontario in upstate NY, where the winters are pretty extreme usually. Every year, the four upstate cities compete for the "Golden Snowball" Award (gross, I know, haha), and the city closest to where I am usually wins-- my specific area usually exceeds their snow total, though, due to closer proximity to the lake. (Lake effect snow was my best friend growing up considering the snow days, but not such a fan now that I have to drive in it!)
